Advice for Worship Leaders #9 - Prophetic singing - Quality time

Prophetic singing - Quality time
When I was growing up the spirit of prophecy and prophetic singing was kind of ambiguous and random. I would go to a conference and see something and think, “That was the spirit of prophecy.” Then I would go to another conference and see someone else doing something and think, “Oh wait, now that’s the spirit of prophecy.”

No matter what it might or might not look like the Lord can be using someone and speaking through them. You could be standing there stoic just barely singing and the spirit can be going forth in power, or you could be showing it externally - either way the Lord can be speaking through someone.

Advice for Worship Leaders #8 - Divine order

Divine order
In the last two years of my life the prayer for “Divine order” has become one of my most prayed prayers. I pray this prayer literally every single day. I have found that asking the Lord to come and perfectly align and order my life is one of the wisest things that I can do.

You have a time and place set to have your bible study, but now what are you going to do during the actual bible study? There are a lot of options and different things will work for different people.

Below I’ve shared a few of the things I’ve tried over the years and some of the pros and cons I’ve found.

How to lead a bible study with your worship team - Part 1

Being honest with you I used to hate having a team bible study. I would dread it because it was so awkward! I felt it was like a plane that kept trying to take off the runway but never made it more than an inch off the ground.

It only took about ten years of trial and error for me to realize a few simple practical things that will help it along. I hope these encourage you and help you get past some of the hurdles I had to cross (in less than ten years time! : )

Advice for Worship Leaders #3 - Incorporating spontaneous worship times into your Sunday morning worship format

Incorporating spontaneous worship times into your Sunday morning worship format

Growing up I was blessed to be in a church that loved the prophetic spirit and really gave place for spontaneous times of worship. But I’ve talked to a lot of worship leaders and pastors who desire to have a spontaneous worship expression during their Sunday morning worship time but they feel there are so many obstacles to making it happen.

Advice for Worship Leaders #2 - Dedicated writing time

Dedicated writing time
A big encouragement I would give to worship leaders is to dedicate time to writing at home. When I first started leading I would try and write songs at home and it was so hard that I eventually gave up and would only write on stage during a set. I love spontaneously writing on sets with my team and I still do it, but the Lord began whispering to my heart a few years ago about the necessity of being a good steward of the craft and starting to write at home as well.

How can I grow as a leader?
How can I better steward what the Lord has given me?
How can I better serve those that I lead?
